Problem

5 million tonnes of fine fraction construction and demolition waste (CDW) go to landfill every year in Germany alone. At the same time, primary resources are becoming more and more scarce. This results in a dual pressure on the construction industry to reuse its waste.
Lösung – ReWorth Blocks

Lösung

We use fine fraction CDW to replace 50% of the raw materials in aerated concrete blocks, an established and commonly used construction material, using a patented Fraunhofer technology. We get this CDW for free and are able to drop into existing processes, both on the manufacturing and on the construction side of things. Thereby we can offer a price competitive material which meets all industry norms and does not require any adjustment or risk-taking on the part of the (inherently conservative) construction industry. Almost as a side benefit, this price-competitive material is far more sustainable than regular aerated concrete due to the reuse of waste.

Our material can be made into blocks or slabs of almost any size and shape, allowing for both traditional construction as well as prefabricated buildings.

Alleinstellung

The patented process innovation allows for the first time the introduction of a variable and heterogeneous resource stream into the sensitive material composition of aerated concrete. In this way, the critical resource quartz sand can be substituted by more than 70% through a previously unused mineral waste stream, making aerated concrete a fully circular building material.
